Safe Kids Worldwide recently published a study revealing that an average of 17 children die daily as a result of preventable accidents.

Data from the Safe Kids Web site said South Carolina ranked 18th in the nation for accidental injury deathsfor children during the summer. The data determined more than four children per 100,000 died each summer because of preventable injuries.

An easy way to help prevent such injuries is to make sure children wear helmets when riding bicycles or other pedal-powered toys. In fact, statistics show that wearing a helmet can reduce the chance of serious head injury by as much as 85%.
