I’m sure most of you have heard Hard Rock Park filed Chapter 11. What does that mean? Basically, it allows reorganization of the park. Though shocking to many, some analysts saw the filing to be evident and even later than expected. I am sad to see the park go, because I enjoyed the Led Zeppelin coaster…but I am more concerned on the impact the move may have on Myrtle Beach. The park’s critics and cynics, alike, fail to realize the park’s closure is bad news for Myrtle Beach. With our nation’s current economic crisis this simply shows that something has be done to help stimulate local economies. The banks and insurance providers are not the only parties suffering. Local governments should look up to big brother’s idea…an economic bailout for things to improve.

My question is what about season passholders like myself? I guess I just sit and wait for the “alleged reopening” in the spring of 2009. So, how is the park going to make money if they already have season passholders who don’t have to pay? Lower the beer prices to sell more? That’s my hope!
