Personal injury and motorcycle accident numbers were improved over 2006 Harley-Davidson Rally statistics. The Horry County Emergency Operations Center reported 139 motorcycle-involved incidents between May 11 and Sunday. Three were fatal. The local police want to continue the recent trend of improved safety.

"We have one goal in mind, and that's to make sure everyone leaves bike week alive," said S.C. Highway Patrol Lt. Melvin Warren. "Anyone who rides a motorcycle knows it is inherently more dangerous to ride than to drive a car."

It should be noted that according to Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with the S.C. Highway Patrol, "The bulk of the motorcycle-involved crashes investigated were the fault of the non-motorcycle." With that in mind, drivers and bikers, alike, be cautious this weekend but enjoy the rally.
