A sickly Charlotte, North Carolina, woman whose case is just one example of the years long worth of delays within the Social Security disability program, will finally receive her benefits any day now.

An administrative law judge recently awarded the woman her monthly social security disability payments, which should typically be approximately $947, nearly five years after she first applied to the disability program.

The decision was reached a month after the Observer first featured her in an article regarding the backlogging of disability cases.
