The Cardinal is recuperating at his home, recovering from a fractured femur he suffered after a slip and fall at a Northwest Side Church on Monday.

The Archdiocese says the Cardinal will continue to rest and take it easy while maintaining his regular work schedule from his home, although, all of his public appearances in the immediate future will be rescheduled or postponed.

A camera caught the scene as the Cardinal slipped and fell on Holy water on the marble church floor, during a blessing of Easter food baskets. The Cardinal, a polio survivor, wears a brace on his leg and has suffered a fall before. This time though, fracturing his femur, forcing him to miss Easter mass.

The cardinal was treated after the fall at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
